Discover architecture, history, religion and Georgia's elixir of health with an exciting tour from Tbilisi. This tour will take you to three distinct historical locations in Georgia, the Rabati castle complex, the Vardzia cave complex, and Borjomi Central Park. You will be escorted by your guide in a comfortable car.
Your tour will begin at Rabati Castle, a 13th-century medieval castle complex situated in the city of Akhaltsikhe. The main castle is at the summit and you will be able to see a synagogue, orthodox church, catholic church, and mosque at the middle bailey. Take in the fusion architecture that is a representation of various cultural influences.
Follow the upper Mtkvari River as it cuts through a stunning valley with rocky hillside views at Aspindza. Arrive at Vardzia which is a rock-carved Monastery complex and a city renowned for its artwork and distinctive architecture. Visit the main church, the bell tower, the caves, the rooms, the chapels, the pharmacy, and the wine cellars. Next in your itinerary will be a stop at the Middle-age Khertvisi fortress. Your last stop on this tour will be at the hydrothermal health spa, Borjomi Resort, which is situated in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region. Take a stroll through Borjomi Central Park and sample the mineral water, which has special therapeutic properties. The park is very scenic and sports an ecological theme.

We travel to Rabati Castle, an Asian-style medieval castle complex in Akhaltsikhe. It was initially constructed in the 13th century, and as different cultures influenced it over time, the architecture changed. The fortress covers an area of about 7 hectares and is divided into two sections, modern and historical. A restaurant, hotel, cafes, and stores can be found in the new section. The Ahmediyeh Mosque, a church, the family castle of Jakeli, and a historical museum are all located in the fortress's older section. We will stop for lunch after touring Rabati Castle.

Our next destination is the cave monastery of Vardzia, which dates back to the 12th century. The Vardzia region was inhabited even earlier during the Bronze Age, according to excavations. The road travels along the upper Mtkvari River, cutting through Aspindza's stunning valley. Giorgi III was unable to finish the construction of Vardzia. His daughter, Queen Tamar, put an end to the building. Vardzia experienced tremendous growth in importance and prosperity under Tamar's rule, which astounded the people of the time.The works of Vardzia stand as a significant monument to the magnificent Georgian style of painting. A bell tower, the main church, cave dwellings, rooms, chapels, a pharmacy, and wine cellars are all located there. Access tunnels, water sources, and security are certain infrastructure that is visible throughout.

The fortress of Khertvisi is a well-known attraction in the south of Georgia and is not far from the cave town of Vardzia. Situated at the convergence of the Paravani and Mtkvari rivers, the ancient fortress blends in perfectly with nature. Surrounded by powerful mountains, the strong walls appear even more intimidating. The exact date of construction is not sure as different sources have documented it in a variety of ways. It was first mentioned during the era of the Great Silk Road. The castle is perched atop a mountain and was once complicated to get to but not anymore because of the good maintenance.

Our final stop is at Borjomi, a hydro-thermal health spa resort in Samtskhe-southern Javakheti's region. It is very popular for its geothermal spring mineral water resources. You can sample the mineral water which has numerous therapeutic qualities during your stroll through Borjomi Central Park. In 1907, it took home a gold medal from Belgium. Since 1896, the water has been bottled. The tour will end with a visit to some attractions and some time to admire Borjomi Central Park's breathtaking scenery.
