Embark on a private tour from Tbilisi to Rabati Castle and Vardzia Caves-Borjomi to explore various historical sites, including Abati, Vardzia, and Borjomi Central Park.
During the whole adventure, you'll be guided by a private, professional guide and driven safely and in a comfortable card. The Vardzia Cave Complex, Rabati Castle, and Borjomi Central Park are the three places in southern Georgia that are on our itinerary to visit.
We visit Rabati Castle, near Akhaltsikhe, an Asian-style medieval castle complex. It was built in the 13th century, and over the centuries, it changed as different cultures affected it. This can be seen in the architecture.
The total land area of the fortress is close to 7 hectares, split into two parts: the modern and the historical. In the new part, you'll find a hotel, a restaurant, some stores, and some cafes.
In the older part of the stronghold, you can find a historical museum, a church, a castle owned by the Jakeli family, and the Ahmediyeh Mosque. We will stop for lunch after we tour Rabati Castle.
Our next stop is the ancient cave monastery of Vardzia, which dates back to the 12th century. The path follows the upper Mtkvari River as it winds through the gorges of Aspindza and on through a beautiful valley that looks like a green ribbon running through the dry Rocky Mountains.
Archaeological digs have shown that people lived around Vardzia even earlier, during the Bronze Age. Giorgi III did not have enough time or money to finish building Vardzia. His daughter, who later became Queen Tamar, finished the work on the building.
Vardzia's importance grew by leaps and bounds while Tamar was in charge, and the country became rich and developed in ways that no one had seen before. The huge paintings of Vardzia are an important part of Georgian painting's long and beautiful history.
There you can find cave homes, rooms, chapels, a pharmacy, and wine cellars. A bell tower and the main church are also there. The infrastructure is made up of things like access tunnels, water treatment facilities, and security measures.
The fortress of Khertvisi is a popular place for tourists to visit. It is in the country's south, near the famous cave town of Vardzia. It is at the place where the Paravani and Mtkvari rivers meet.
The historical fortress looks very impressive because tall mountains surround it. The date that the defense was built can be found in several ways in different sources.
The first time it was talked about was during the time of the Great Silk Road. In the past, it was notoriously hard to get to the castle because it was at the top of a mountain. This means that Khertvisi is always in great shape.
Our final stop is Borjomi, a hydrothermal health spa resort in the southern part of Samtskhe-Javakheti. It's known worldwide for how good the mineral water from its geothermal springs is.
We go for a walk in Borjomi Central Park and drink the mineral water from Borjomi, which is known for being very good for your health. It won its first gold medal in 1907 at a competition in Belgium.
The water has been put in bottles since 1896. We'll finally be able to enjoy the beautiful scenery and fun things to do that Borjomi Central Park has to offer.
