The first stop is at Jinvali Water Reservoir along Georgian Military Highway. The dam was built by the Soviet Union in the 1980s and is a great location for breathtaking photographs.

Priceless relics from Mtskheta, like the Cross of Saint Nino, were moved here when they were in danger to keep them safe. During the Soviet Union, religious services were not allowed, but tourists still went to churches regularly.
