The most magnificent cave in Georgia, Kumistavi (Prometheus Cave), allows visitors to see stalactites, stalagmites, fossilised waterfalls, underground rivers, and cave lakes in spectacular detail. There are bright lights all over the cave, from orange-red to pink and blue. Two options are available for visitors to explore the cave. Choose between a boat ride along the underground river or a walking tour along the 1600-meter route. The poetic naming of the "Cave of Prometheus" is credited to Kumistavi and a well-known Caucasian myth about Amirani. According to legend, Amirani offended the Gods, like Prometheus, and suffered a cruel punishment. In contrast to the Greek giant, the cruel Gods chained Amirani inside a huge cave while the eagle tortured him and devoured his liver. This cave is predicted to be Kumistavi. The legend claims that Prometheus was chained to Khvamli Mountain, which can also be seen from Prometheus Cave.
