Situated off the Georgian Military Highway is the Jinvali Water Reservoir which was built in 1980 by the Soviet Union. This dam is referred to as a lake by the locals and is a perfect location for gorgeous photos.

Stepantsiminda (Kazbegi) is well-known for being a popular destination for hikers and mountain climbers as well as for its picturesque setting in the Greater Caucasus mountains. The Kazbegi Mountain itself, the surrounding alpine meadows, the forests of the Kazbegi Nature Reserve, and the Gergeti Trinity Church outside of the town are some of the local points of interest.
